SEASONS // R2 // Sow

Galatians 6:7

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Farmers around the world work day and night to sow different types of seed at the correct time and in the right season. This ensures the crop is fit for its purpose and we get to enjoy the delights of the farmers fresh produce. If there was no sowing, this wouldn’t happen.

In our Christian walk, we too need to sow into whatever season of our lives we find ourselves in. When we know there is a season for everything and we trust God fully in that season, we should use the opportunity to sow…

Sow into the word of God

The Bible tells us the seed is the word of the Lord. In the parable of the sower, the seed that fell on good ground is he who hears God’s word, understands it and bears fruit. We sow into God’s word because man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).

Sow into the spirit

Don’t sow to the flesh but to the Spirit. Do we spend too much time worrying about the cares of this world, or do we sow into the spirit and fix our eyes on heavenly things. When we sow to the flesh we rob ourselves of so much beauty that God has to offer. Seek the spirit in everything you do and you will reap the fruits of the spirit. We can only serve one master, let it be that of the spirit.

Sow righteousness

Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you (Hosea 10:12). We as Christians are called to live righteous lives. To stand for the things of God, to live a life pleasing to God, and to be set apart from this world. In these days more than ever we need to shine brighter than we’ve ever done before. We do this through Jesus. The one who knew no sin but became sin, so we could become the righteousness of God in Him.

I encourage you to sow into your season no matter how hard it may be. Even if it hurts, even if you’re frustrated and confused. Why? Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy (Psalm 126:5). Be encouraged, your shout of joy is coming.

Until then, sow into the word, sow into the spirit and sow into righteousness and here you will find all the joy and peace you need until you reach the ultimate prize. That is, to him who overcomes...God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold I make all things new” (Revelation 21:5).

Sow into the word of God, sow into the spirit and sow into righteousness. Here you will reap the delights of the Lord, and they’re not to be missed!
