SEASONS // R1 // Know

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To everything a season. A time for every purpose under heaven.

There is something beautiful about seasons. The sunshine of spring, where leaves begin to grow, flowers start to bloom and new life is born. Summer days by the blue skied beach, sandy toes and a paddle in the waves of the ocean. The cosy Autumn nights, hot chocolate by the fire, and long walks in the fallen red and yellow leaves. Winter, the dark cold days with frost in the air, the hope for snow to fall and carols being sung by candlelight.

Just like the seasons of the earth, we all go through seasons in our lives. In Ecclesiastes we’re told that God has a season for everything and a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance...

These verses teach us to know...

...to know that God has a time for everything.

When we truly know and wholeheartedly believe this, we let go of our own ambitions, hopes and plans and surrender our trust to the one who knows the beginning to the end.

Then, we begin to see the beauty in every season.

You may not be in the season you want to be in, but if you’re walking in the will of God, you are exactly where you are supposed to be. I encourage you, in the midst of your season, whether Summer or Winter, find the beauty, believe there’s a purpose and know that God is in control. Your times are in His hands (Psalm 31:15) his nail pierced hands, and there’s no better place to be.

Be encouraged that seasons are temporary.

The third day changed everything, hope arose, death was defeated. But to fulfil God’s purpose Jesus had to go to the cross. If there was no death, there was no resurrection, and no hope for the world.

Know today that God has a season for everything, know that your season will come, and in knowing, trust. Trust that He has made everything beautiful...in its time.
