He chose me!

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” Isaiah 43:10

We as mere humans can’t fathom the fact that God has forgotten about our sin. Our human minds were made to remember things, different areas of our brain form and store different kinds of memories. We experience the blessing and curse of this in everyday life, we can remember the good and we can remember the bad. Our minds remember everything we have ever done wrong and everything that someone has done wrong to us. And so it is not humanely possible to “forgive and forget” however, you can choose to not remember by not reliving the experience. What is forgiveness? Forgiveness is writing off a debt and forfeiting your right to revenge. God wrote off our debt through the death of His only son Jesus.

Romans 5:8 says “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

He cast our sins as far as the east is from the west as a result. And so because God willingly forgave us, unforgiveness whether it be towards ourselves or others is not an option for us. We are called to forgive always, 70 times 7, there’s no other way about it. God has forgotten your sin so stop beating yourself up about it instead repent from it and remember God sees it no longer, it’s at the bottom of the sea of forgetfulness. That is Grace! I love the song lyric “if Grace is an ocean we are all sinking” - it’s so true we are totally submerged and drowning in God’s love and Grace. The debt has been paid in full, the bible says “You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you” - we’ve been redeemed and set free, the chains of bondage are broken so let them go! Stop holding onto them and carrying them with you. You’ve been set free for time and eternity!
